Data mapping - where is the data stored

Have you ever thought about the best way to show data mapping on the Gantt chart?  In this article, we will give you some tips.

By default, if you don't have any custom fields to store this data, the value is stored in the String ad-hoc custom field.

We recommend you create your own custom field of type Date(Only) for a better user experience.

Please remember that you don't need to create custom fields for all data mapping options, but depending on your project needs you can choose the combination of 2 different fields: 

Start Field & Duration Field, End Field & Duration Field, or Start Field & End Field

• Create desired custom fields for work items you are showing on the Gantt Chart;

• Check that you can see them on the Polarion;

In case, if you don't see your custom fields, go to the Administration - Form Configuration - Form Layout Configuration and add these fields either by their Id or just enable all custom fields:  <field id="@allCustomFields"/>;

• Change Data Mapping fields to the newly created ones in the Gantt Widget Parameters;

Now it is very convenient to set tasks either from Polarion or right on the Gantt Chart.
