Gantt "Sort By" parameter

Modified on Thu, 26 Jun at 5:04 PM

In this article, we will mention the main information you need for sorting items on the Gantt Chart.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

'Sort by' supported properties

It is possible to sort items on the Gantt Chart based on ANY Polarion properties (field IDs) or even a combination of a few of them. They can be both standard fields and custom fields.

In the case of using multiple sorting options, just put their IDs one by one in the "Sort by" field.

Sorting in the reverse order

One of the additional great sorting options in the Gantt is the use of the Tilda "~" symbol.

Adding Tilda before the name of the sorting parameter will show the data in reverse order.

For example, if before it showed tasks from the smallest ID to the biggest, now it will show from the biggest to the smallest.

Sorting of child items

Child items are normally sorted in the same way as the main WI according to the value specified in the 'Sort By' field.

If it is needed to sort main items by some specific property, but keep the sorting of the child items according to their ID -> you can do so by adding the following property in the Configuration Properties:

nextedy.gantt.sort_children_by_id=true

This way, child WIS would ignore the 'sort by' property and get sorted based on their IDs.
